In all, some 16,600 were made with most going to the Swiss and Austrian armies. Small, lightweight and nimble, the Haflinger is a highly sought-after recreational vehicle with an impressive carrying capacity. The Haflinger is 3.5 metres long (11.5 feet) and 1.5 metres wide (five feet). The two-seater weighs in at 600 kilograms (1,300 pounds) and can handle a payload of 500 kilograms (1,100 pounds).
